December 2018: Sacré Bleu by Christopher Moore
Full Disclosure: I haven't finished reading this yet, but I'm having so much fun with it, and it seems like such a perfect read for this time of year, that I couldn't help giving it a premature recommendation.
I've read Christopher Moore before. He is completely zany, but very well-researched, and hilariously irreverent. When reading his books I find myself rolling my eyes one minute, bursting out laughing the next, bothering Matt to read a passage out loud, and all the while rapidly turning pages.
The setting is 19th century France, the characters are all the famous artists from that time period, and the supposed antagonist is a strange little... colourman!
This book will have you geeking out about art, enjoying a romp through Montmartre, and alternating between indignation and glee.
