Limited Edition Colors
The natural world is rich with color. It is everywhere all the time- in the stunning displays of sun risings and settings, the the shocking plumage of birds, those bright fragile wildflower petals, in rainbows, reflections, and the ground beneath our feet. However, many of these colors are unsuitable for the artists' palette.
We have constructed a line of lightfast natural artist-grade colors covering the different areas of the spectrum. But we are artists and explorers, and therefore have an eye always wandering from our palette. We are always testing new colors, putting them through the rigors of our studio to see if they will become one of the colors that we offer. Some colors, for a host of reasons, do not pass our test. However, the ones that do will show up from time to time as Limited Edition colors.
We offer these colors when we have them. Some we fall in love with and make over and over again. Others are offered once before we move on. We do not offer these on any kind of set schedule. Below, you will see a few colors that we have offered in the past...

New in 2018, we have introduced a line of Limited Edition Metallic Colors. These are markedly different from the rest of the colors we produce in that they are made with synthetic pigments. We decided to create this line for a variety of reasons. Genuine, natural gold, while a suitable pigment, is horrendously expensive, extremely scarce, and is mined in ways that are both ethically dubious and harmful to the earth. Silver and Pearl, while occurring beautifully in nature, do not make suitable pigments. Silver tarnishes, and the lovely iridescence of pearl is destroyed as it is ground into pigment, and therefore unfortunately does not translate into paint.
So, we have released these "Faux" renditions as representatives of beautiful colors that occur in Nature. They are affordable, non-toxic, and conflict free. Their small pigment particle size makes them an enjoyable choice for use with dip pens as well!
