This little kit is designed for those wanting to take their first steps in watercolors and looking for a starting point. When you are beginning to learn any new skill, there is a lot to tie together - and it can be overwhelming. So, while you are learning about perspective, composition, brush handling, watercolor technique, and so forth, it is helpful to limit your palette and supplies.
Includes a Da Vinci Cosmotop Spin Travel Brush (size 6 Round) and a pad of Strathmore Watercolor Postcards. These three tools provide an excellent starting place to dive into watercolor. I have personally used this brush for years and believe it is wonderful for beginners. It has enough stiffness and spring and a wonderful point that make it easier to use than other brushes. Painting some small scale postcards and sending them off to friends and family can take the pressure off of creating Art with a capital A.
The Travel Brush is a tight fit in the tin, but it is so convenient to be able to carry it in there. Just rubber band your palette to your postcards pad and you're ready to roll!
Do you have to be a beginner to use this set? Not at all. It is a great collection for the minimalist and a wonderfully functional palette of colors.
Palette is comprised of 10 magnetized Half-Pans of color enclosed in a travel tin, and accompanied by a hand-painted color chart. This color collection of colors is designed to be very versatile without being overwhelming. Designed for beginners and those who want to stick to the basics, it contains the modern primary colors (Quinacridone Magenta, Quinoxalinedione Yellow, Phthalocyanine Cyan, and Grey Ochre). It also contains six other colors for convenience that I consider the most useful.
