Phthalocyanine Cyan
~Shell~
Greenleaf & Blueberry Artisanal Handmade Watercolors
Color Name: Phthalocyanine Cyan
Pigment: Phthalocyanine Cyan
Pigment Index No.: PB16
Description: An intense, cool blue that leans towards green. Wide value range, intense tinting strength.
Like our Quinacridone Magenta, Quinoxalinedione Yellow, and Phthalocyanine Green, this is a synthetic/natural hybrid, which means it is a synthetic single pigment bound to a natural mineral base. As a result these have behavior characteristics in common with both synthetic and natural pigments. These won't handle the same as synthetic colors from other paint lines.
For our Shell Pans, we use natural seashells, nature's answer to the pan. They are lightweight and durable, though have a greater chance of chipping if used roughly.
Our Shells, being a product of nature, vary in size, but usually measure between 1.5-1.75cm
Our Shells are roughly equivalent to 1/5th of a Half-Pan. Shells are a traditional and historical method of storing color. Cave artists and medieval manuscript illuminators alike chose to store their paints in shells. Our Shells are small enough to help even the most extreme minimalist justify carrying along a dab of color. Another reason that we developed this option is as a way for you to sample our more rare and expensive colors in a more affordable format.

Please be aware that every monitor and screen displays colors a little differently. We have done our very best to show our colors as they appear in your hand.
